We’re All Seeds

God moves in the every day…

Combine conversation with a friend with a daughter’s science experiment and Voila‘, you get “seeds” for thoughts.

As I watch the life growth of a plant I see similarities between us.

We start in a seed, no bigger than an embryo, and are suddenly born into this world.

We’re just starting off, and life happens along the way.

Weeds come up.

At times we almost get choked out from people walking on us and hindering our growth.

There’s joy along the soil’s path, but more recovery is needed to be the plant He intended.

We’re alive and still breathing.  We may be young, but we’re growing.

Sometimes slowly, depending on the conditions.

Even as I begin to rise to the earths surface, I’m only a seedling.

I may think for a moment, I’m closer to sprouting than you, and yet I find myself laying in the same soil.

I wonder if…
any of us are ever really ahead of each other?

Honestly, we’re from the same human seed and have the same needs.

Our human skin is not much different than the soil the seed is in.

I want to be freed.  I push my way through above the earth’s surface.

I reach up higher, try to grow taller, to get closer to the (son)light I so desperately need to breathe!

No, I haven’t arrived to not needing you.

I need sunlight and rain.  And when that never knowing breeze takes a sudden turn for the worst, I may simply droop and need to rest.

I need stakes of grace set up around me, and God’s people to surround me!

I need God no matter how far I’ve come or how tall I’ve grown.

I will always need water for my soul!

Isn’t that the point of all of this?  He gifts us with the knowledge of our deep need for Him…

I need to sow, grow, and experience harvest!

He loves us!  He tends us.  There is truly no need for comparison.

We all need.

The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water when you are dry
    and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
    like an ever-flowing spring.
Isaiah 58:11 NLT

Feed and water me God with your Holy Spirit’s life giving presence.

Amen.
