The Gift of the Present

Christmas is here in 6 days but God’s Presence is here always…

This is a time for sipping egg nog, and staring up at tree lights, when the house calms down at night.  With early darkness outside, my eyes have had to adjust and see the inner light to get me through Winter nights.

I’ve discovered we have enough light in here to learn by.  The daylight may be cut short but our hearts will be disciplined to widen and find more life on the inside for such a time as this.  We will pause for a little while… we will hunker down a little deeper.  We will choose to smile and find the moment we’re in.

I once was too busy to do these things.  I would get caught up and think other things were more important than the present moment.  Now, I’m learning different.  To look straight into the present moment is perhaps the biggest gift ever…

We wonder, where has God gone?  Maybe we don’t see Him when we move too fast?

I put my feet up and read the good book or teach my 8 year old how to play a game of cards legs crossed under that coffee table.  It’s times like these when you realize everything is going to be okay.  Because God’s Presence is near to those who live in present moments.  We become more blessed by His companionship.
It’s now, we know we’re connected to our Creator.

And we remember,Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others, the armies of heaven, praising God and saying,“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” {Luke 2:13-14 NLT}

May He be pleased with me.

In a few days we’ll unwrap gifts and be in eachothers presence for more special moments… MERRY CHRISTMAS friends!  Thank you for joining me in reading, writing, and sharing this year.  You’re a part of my gift of community.
