A Season Of Returning

Lent.  It’s a small word that means big things.  I didn’t know much about the act of it until recently.  In fact, I don’t think I had ever heard of it until last year… besides the occasional Catholic Christian I would pass by wearing black ash on their forehead.
I never knew those ashes meant something was beginning…

DSC_0506And this season begins in returning.  Confession, surrender, and a heightened awareness of ourselves as Jesus works in our midst.  While some of us may fast something we’ve discovered distracts us from this holistic return to Him, some of us may choose to slow and reflect.  What God truly wants is us.

Love.  It’s a small word that means big things.  And I’m feeling it’s highly complementary that Valentine’s Day steps in the day after Lent begins.  I appreciate that.

I’m reading through this little book named “Holey, Wholly, Holy”, available here.  And this friends is how I desire to be.  And my prayer for you right now is that on this Valentine’s Day you return to Him in some way that you’ve never been near Him before.
God is love and this year, on this day, I’m thankful for Lent.

You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one.  You do not want a burnt offering.
The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.  Psalm 51:16-17  NLT
